Love St. Anselm! The ambiance is very relaxed, a good place to go for any occasion. Those biscuits with pimento cheese, the crab deviled eggs, and steaks - I dream about them. Went with a friend on a Friday afternoon; we were immediately seated (we did have reservations). The restaurant did get incredibly busy at one point, and our server apologized for it, but to be honest, I never felt neglected. I also saw that everyone worked as a team to help one another. We started with the Buttermilk Biscuits and Pimento Cheese, Blue Crab Deviled Eggs, and the Beet & Ricotta salad. All of these were incredibly tasty; I had to be careful not to finish them all so I could save room for the steak. For our steaks, we ordered the Butcher Steak (hangar steak) and Ribeye. Both were amazing and cooked p
St. Anselm is an American steakhouse/tavern that serves delicious steaks and comforting dishes in a relaxed setting. THE MEAL 🥮 Biscuits & Pimento: These were amazing. The biscuits have a crisp, crunchy crust protecting a decadent, soft crumb. The pimento cheese adds great creaminess, but, the side of salted Vermont butter elevated them even further. 🥩 The Steaks: • Butcher's Cut (Hanger Steak): Served medium rare with an excellent sear. Tender, juicy, and full of flavor. • New York Strip: Robust beef flavor with perfectly seared fat. • Lamb Leg: Cooked nicely to medium rare, though the pickled pepper relish was a bit overpowering. Tip: We used the onion cream sauce from the Baby Carrots dish to balance the relish. SIDES & SWEETS • Savory: The Baby Carrots (on that tasty onion cream) an
This place was packed on a Thursday night with good reason— the steaks were superb. We ordered the 32-oz Prime T-Bone, the 16-oz Ribeye, and the Pork Porterhouse and they were beautiful— perfectly grilled and succulent and flavorful. You’ll also be glad to get the Baby Iceberg salad for starters as it came with heritage bacon that’s so good, as well as the especially tasty Crispy Pig Head Croquette. Overall a most happy meal.
Food was delicious. Salmon was delicious, the Brussels were the best I’ve ever had. The crab deviled eggs were good. Oh and definitely the biscuits with the pimento spread is one that friends ordered before and love, we got some I was stuffed and wasn’t going to have one, but I had to try it, and yes I probably would not had ordered biscuits but they were of course good. My only complaint was not getting any refills on my iced tea. That’s a pet peeve of mine.
Sorry for the length but I was so impressed, I wanted to take my time and write a thoughtful review to let everyone know. I went to St. Anselm because my guest picked it, so I showed up not really knowing what to expect. I left wondering how I hadn’t been there sooner. Every single dish impressed me. I started with the Baby Iceberg salad, and I’m not exaggerating when I say it’s the best wedge salad I’ve ever had. Instead of that traditional massive wedge that crumbles the second you try to cut it, this one is actually constructed in a way that’s easy to eat. It’s generous enough to split, but I’m glad I didn’t. I finished the whole thing without regret. :-) They’re known for the buttermilk biscuits with pimento cheese spread (pictured), and now I understand why. If they decided to ser
