Southern Char Steakhouse

Ate at Southern Char on Feb. 4, 2026: totally delectable Char Burger with cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion and toothsome brioche bun with crunchy, delightful fried green tomatoes! Jasmine was my kind and helpful server. Manager was so hospitable and kind. Love the atmosphere: delightfully relaxing! I will come back again and again.

This is definitely not a family dining restaurant.. not that it needs to be. Just not family budget friendly. Dinner was mostly great. Friend green tomatoes were delicious. Did NOT enjoy the salted carmel cheese cake. Overly priced for a small slice and not to my liking taste wise. Would still recommend for date night or group get together.

Only some wines are available by the glass. (My favorite wasn't) We were seated 40 minutes before closing, but then warned we only had a few more minutes to order before kitchen closed. Food and service was good. They only offered a military discount for my husband's meal, which I have NEVER seen. The management obviously has no idea what it means to be a military spouse. Not sure if we will be back.

The steak was good had filet and New York strip. The strip was about 1/4 in. The filet was chunky but flavorful. The asparagus and mashed potatoes they serve with the strip or good. The dining area was a large room and the music was not very pleasant. Our waitress was very nice and accommodating. I did not think that the price reflected the quality of the food. The stakes were charred well and that did add to a robust flavor.

The overall atmosphere was nice and the staff were friendly. The steaks were under seasoned. A little salt and pepper goes a long way. Thank you for the wine recommendation!
