I've been in the restaurant industry for over 30 years and have spent thousands of dollars on commercial kitchen equipment. Out of all the brands I’ve worked with, Southbend and Hobart have consistently been the worst in terms of product reliability and customer service. My most recent experience with Southbend was especially frustrating. I purchased a double convection oven in December 2022. By May 2025, I had already spent over $4,000 on repairs for the top oven. Eventually, I gave up and decided to replace it. I would have gone with a different brand, but the bottom oven was still working well—so I reluctantly bought another Southbend oven. Big mistake. The product,and variations of designs available is superb. Warranty options can be given up to 5 years in duration ,which is above standards , customer service with tech support is great

Their products were highly recommended by my local restaurant supply company. We purchased a double stack convection and a ten burner range. After 2 years of use the $8000 oven has miserably failed and we have spent over $2k trying to fix it. We tried to get them to step up the to the plate and make it right and they passed on the opportunity. Now our range oven is having issues baking consistently. There’s too many better suppliers out there such as Vulcan and Blodgett that are similar price points but much better quality IMO.

We have been in the restaurant business for over 30 years. We always purchased used equipment due to the pricing. Recently we started replacing our old equipment with brand new Southbend equipment.. All of which has met and exceeded our expectations as far as pricing quality and build time! We recently lost our broiler and come to find out that no one stocks broilers anymore. The broiler is the back bone to our operation. We decided to purchase the platinum series broiler. We are in desperate need of this peice of equipment and the average build time was 6-8 days.
