Sora Japanese Cuisine & Sushi

We ordered food from Sora Newark terminal A after getting off plane at lunch time, on a quiet weekday and there was no line at the place. As we walked up to the counter the staff was arguing with another customer. Should have been a sign to turn away right there but we are tired and this seems like a quick and healthy option. Went to ordered a serving of gyoza for kiddo. They took out frozen dumpling put in take out plastic container add tap water and put in microwave. After extended wait time the said container was removed from microwave, the water poured out from side of container into work sink. Then one of the dumplings fell out into the sink. The employee fish it back up from the sink and put back into the bowl, in full view of customer, then put a lid on and hand to me. I asked

Really, really disappointed in the food here. I went to their sushi bar in the United terminal. I sat down thinking I'd receive freshly made food, not to-go items that have been sitting in a fridge. The sushi was old and not fresh. Instead of offering me freshly made rolls, the staff gave me a to go box from their fridge. The rice was stale and the avocado was starting to brown. The gyoza (pork buns) weren't fresh - they were put in a microwave to heat to temp and served in a Togo bowl. I had to ask for sauce, as none was provided for the gyoza. These two items were about $50. I highly recommend finding food elsewhere. Overpriced and terrible quality.

Had a nice time at Sora! Great place to enjoy a meal while waiting for your flight, relaxed with friendly service and didn’t need to wait too long for the food. The cocktails were really good, we got the yuzu bramble and Mount Fuji. For food we got the miso ramen, Philly roll, salmon avocado roll, and spicy tuna roll. It’s the only full service restaurant in this section of the terminal. Recommend!

Stopped by for sushi and ramen. As soon as we sat down and got comfortable, we were told sushi wasn’t available because the chef was “on break” or something like that. Great timing. But hey, we were already there, so we stayed. We ordered ramen and chicken teriyaki. Not terrible, but definitely meh. For airport food, I wasn’t expecting perfection, but for those prices? Come on. Tiny portions served in even tinier dishes. Felt more like a sampler than a meal. Then came the cocktail — I ordered a Malibu Original Coconut Rum. What I got looked nothing like the photo. Just a random glass of Baileys? No foam, no almonds, no effort. But the worst part? The tip screen. They ask if you want to include gratuity… but your only “choice” is 20% on top of tax, plus another 3% fee. What even is that?

The food is actually decent for an airport restaurant, that's why it's sad to give them 3 stars. Also, some servers are great, others, not so much. Even the prices are not horrible. We came here because we had an hour and a half before our flight even begin boarding so I thought this would be a good time to get something to eat. The organization here is so bad, I had to shove the food down when it finally arrived because I was going to miss my flight. It took forever for someone to come to our table and then a tremendous amount of time to get our order.
