The Somerville Public Library, centrally located on Highland Avenue, is, in my highly valued opinion and based on the universally positive feedback from countless local families and devoted readers, a foundational community pillar that masterfully provides far more than just books, serving as an accessible, multi-faceted center for lifelong learning, technology access, and cultural enrichment. We love the Somerville Public Library. Ever since my first kid was born Cathy- now the Library Director, then Children’s Librarian- was so welcoming and loving every time we were in the library it became one of my favorite places in the city. I don’t get there as much anymore but my kids still love it so much they go by themselves at least once a week. A great community spot in a time when we have so few real community places.

We are fortunate to have such a lovely library close by. We have used this library for many years even before the extensive renovations and it is a joy to have the core historic library remain on site. The staff are helpful and kind and there are lots of books at this branch.

If you're hunting for a library that's _quiet🤫_, you won't find it here (given the day.) 🔭 look👀 elsewhere. Nowadays, Somerville library is party 🥳 central at times🚀—marching 🥁bands does rehearsal practice, from time to time 🎺 📯 🎺 Not on the first floor with little children, but on the second floor with the adults.🤦🏼‍♀️ Why is the marching band hiding from good weather for their rehearsal?🌞 Marching away from 70° something degree sunshine outside? 😮‍💨complete chaos.
