Sofia’s Bagels

I have a go-to bagel shop in Manhattan’s Russ and Daughters but have yet to nail one to call my neighborhood favorite in Brooklyn until today. Sofia’s Bagels not only taste fresh and chewy within, the crust is absolutely divine. I was awestruck by how both light yet muscular the dough is. Am a bagel sourdough snob so it is truly remarkable to be able to discover such a precious gem in the heart of Bed-Stuy Brooklyn.

omg ! this place was so good. the two ladies in the front were so nice , the food came out fast AND hot! i got sofias turkey, a mixed berries smoothie and it made my morning. i would definitely recommend this place to others

Nice friendly warm welcome. Young guy working the front is great, we would return just because of him. Offered to custom make a couple bagel sandwiches for us instead of having the dish as omelettes, and adding the chicken cutlet was a banger idea, took the sandwich to another level. Asked for the lox bagel with only a small amount of cream cheese and they did so perfectly, might have been the best Lox I’ve had. The spicy burger is also huge, juicy and super solid all around. I was stuffed. Highly recommend, will definitely return when I’m in the area.

We were excited to try this spot out after hearing about it from friends. Imagine our disappointment after today’s experience. We ordered two bagels and a latte, and were told the wait would be around 10-15 minutes. We were very friendly and courteous to the staff. TLDR we didn’t get our order til about an hour later. One group actually put in their order after us and got theirs before us. We never complained or made any remarks while there. To top that off, my girlfriend found plastic in her bagel. Not wax paper, actual PLASTIC. The taste of the bagels were good but based on what we just experienced, I don’t think I’ll ever come back. Just awful.

I don’t usually review but this was one of the worst bagels I’ve had. I got lox and cream cheese, it’s was so dry and had like 1 slice of salmon ( for $16!) but about a pound of cream cheese. My boyfriend got the BEC and it was rubbery and tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp. Super disappointing!
