Customer Reviews
I have been coming here for about 3 years and each experience has always been delicious and consistent. Finally, a well deserved review. The fish are always fresh and the staff are always friendly. My ultimate favorite is their Mix Sashimi Starter. Top tier cuts of fresh sashimi accompanied by a light and delicious ponzu and chili oil sauce. The squid karage is my favorite hot apps, crispy and light, washed down by a cold beer. I usually get the Baja Roll, which is a light and citrus roll, but this time, I opted for the Adams Roll that was highly recommended by Chenda. The Adams Roll did not disappoint. When I feel like a special treat, I love their Omakase combo, A5 Waygu Nigiri, and their Toro. Whatever you order, you can't go wrong. SoCal is definitely one of my top 3 faves spot for
This review is a long time coming the quality and the people here are top notch. It is definitely my go to neighborhood spot, but even if I didn’t live here, it would be worth a drive. A lot of times I get takeout and eat some great sushi at home, but the dine-in experience is intimate and authentic. Always looking forward to many more sushi nights here!!
Solid choice for sushi at a local spot. They are a bit skimpy on the wasabi/ginger but overall the food was fresh and flavorful. The seating outside is very reminiscent of Covid social distancing outdoor seating which could probably use an update, but we didn’t have a wait at all when we arrived at 6:30 on a Saturday.
Are you kidding me? The best sushi I’ve had in San Diego thus far. The chicken karage and chicken wings were soo crispy and delicious. The seasoning was perfect. Oooo if you’re a garlic lover like me, try the garlic edamame. I used to work at a restaurant that had a sushi roll with lemon slices on top and I’ve been searching for something like it since they closed. Luckily, I found the Baja roll and it did not disappoint. If you’ve never tried sushi with lemon on top, you’re missing out. So fresh and yummy. The lychee sake complimented the sushi very well. The green tea mochi tasted homemade and the fried pbj sandwich was so comforting. The restaurant is small and quaint. The woman that served us was very helpful with recommendations. Overall, we had a 10/10 experience. Amazing! We will be
SoCal Sushi is one of my favorite go to spots in Normal Heights. They have such a wide variety of options that I can always find something that hits the craving i've got and, at the same time, everything is so good that I've got my go to items to order. The service is top notch, and the folks serving give great recommendation. The atmosphere is intimate, inviting, and feels like truly authentic sushi spot.
