Snack Shack

Last weekend I was in Albia, Iowa, and hungry for some lunch! I enjoy small local places, and I found just the one in the Snack Shack😋 Serving tenderloins, tacos, pizza, and ice cream to their faithful local following, one could tell that this is the go-to place for many. I had a lovely chat with the manager, Meagan (thanx for taking the time🙏), who described the place as Cheers, where everybody knows your name. And as my regular readers know, I just love that! The feeling of a comfortable, familiar neighborhood spot can't be faked and it can't be bought. It has to be generated by the friendliness and goodwill of those who go there. We both ordered a BLT with frys and a drink.. it says 6 pieces of bacon on a sandwich on their menu..which we didn't get and the bread was small sandwich bread youd find at walmart so wouldnt fit 6 pieces anyways, but that's besides the fact the bacon was put on the bread and ran through the pizza oven.. the bacon was still pink, the bread was over toasted, and the French frys were cold and old.. for the same amount of money go to The Brick Street bar and grill a few blocks away and get amazing hot fresh food

The food was close to being good. The novelty of the shack is great. It Just missed the I wanna go back again vibe.

Da Half Baked: amazing. The cherries in the cherry shakes are verly good! Banana cream pie Twister is okay. Oreo is good. Cookie Monster is great.

This is a great road side diner. The ice cream twister was out of this world Awesome! We had spectacular pork tenderloin sandwich special too. The atmosphere is freshly painted clean restaurant.
