After staying in another bed and breakfast with a less than ideal experience on the Island, we decided to return and give the Smith Island Inn a try! It did not disappoint. The place is super clean and Ellie is amazing! We were picked up at the dock after her husband brought us over on his ferry boat. The other boat captain literally tried to get us to ride the wrong boat from the other bed and breakfast! We spent the day biking, kayaking, and watching the sunset. Gorgeous unspoiled views! Ellie made us an amazing breakfast including some of her homemade treats. She provided plenty of guidance and suggestions. Donna, the neighbor, made us an amazing meal and Jennifer brought our cake right to the Inn! They were both delightful! Best cake on the Island! We are so happy we returned to Smit
I booked this place expecting a cozy stay on Smith Island, but what I got was completely unacceptable. There was no breakfast at all, despite “bed and breakfast” being right there in the name.||The WiFi was also piss por, so we could not contact the owner. For the price I paid, this is outright misleading. The whole point of a B&B is, well, a bed and breakfast!||Save yourself the disappointment and stay literally anywhere else on Smith Island. This felt like a bait-and-switch, and I left a day early just to get some decent rest and a proper meal. ||Just so you know, there was NO DRINKING WATER, and we were not even allowed to use the stove to boil tap water. I hated this place.
John was really helpful with a lot of information about not only the Inn but also about Smith Island. I love taking pictures of birds so I had a fabulous time. There are lots of different kinds all around. It is a great place to enjoy nature and relax. Much slower pace of life. The Inn was very comfortable. I enjoyed one of the books they had left out for us. The bed was comfortable. Room was very clean. With a breeze blowing, we didn't even think about A/C. Wonderful! We left on the morning ferry. The Inn left us an excellent continental breakfast to be sure we were well fed before leaving.
The Inn was what I expected after viewing their web site. What I didn’t expect the huge and beautifully blooming large Hydrangeas!!! We stayed in Geraldine’s Get-Away Room. There were guests in the other two rooms. Our rm was clean. Our King bed was very very comfy. I opened the window to hear the birds and smell the fresh air. Fabulous! The bathroom was clean and large. I loved he big sink with HOT water !! In the morning Maxine prepared for the 6 of us a breakfast of fruit, orange juice, coffee , big tasty waffles bacon /sausage. There cereal and eggs available as a choice as well. It was so nice that Maxine was open with a smile to answer all of my questions! Born and raised on Smith Island she knew about everything … and ( everyone). I felt very safe. Bikes to share and kayaks to s
This is a very nice, niche B&B/Inn. The room is very clean and sufficient for two people and one child under 10. It reminds me of a boarding house where everyone have a room and you share the kitchen and other common areas - great for three couples that want to rent out the whole house. We were the only ones here and had the whole place to ourselves. The rooms do not have refrigerators, but there is an regular sized residential refrigerator in the kitchen that everyone shares to include the chef that will come to the B&B to make breakfast - there’s isn’t a lot of space since the food for breakfast is in refrigerator. ||A couple of notes: The Inn will send you an information package - please look at it ahead of time because the island literally closes at 4 PM (6 PM Fri & Sat) and if you di
