Sleepy Fox Inn and Spa

When I learned about the wild ponies at Grayson Highland State Park I knew I wanted to visit the area. I stumbled onto the website for the Sleepy Fox Inn. It looked gorgeous and had fantastic reviews from previous guests so we decided to book a weeklong stay. I'm so glad we tried it. Scott and Loren were fantastic hosts and their property is gorgeous! The reviews and the website did not disappoint. ||Each morning we enjoyed a breakfast that was delicious. We hiked or biked most days and those breakfasts were hearty enough to keep us filled up most of the day. There is no way you will leave breakfast hungry. ||When you book with them, they only have one room that is detached from their house. It is a spacious loft with a covered porch that faces the woods. This has to be one of my favorite new places to stay in the mountains of VA. Scott & Loren's home is exquisitely kept and has something for everyone to appreciate. We planned this trip as our first anniversary weekend to get away from the chaos of everyday life and it was every bit of what we needed. ||||Unlike other B&Bs, Scott and Loren's home offers a secluded and private setting where you can enjoy the grounds without having to tiptoe around other guests or wait for a good spot on the porch to open up. It offers a level of comfort and seclusion not easily found elsewhere. ||||Their property is amazing with gardens throughout and a quietness you cannot find at other B&Bs. The Sleepy Fox Inn is wonderful! The room-more like a suite-was welcoming and very comfortable. Weather was perfect while we were there (mid-July) we slept with windows open. Scott & Loren are great hosts. Her flowers were lovely & she is so knowledgeable of them. And Scott's breakfasts!!! Wow! I could get used to that luxury.||It is really in the middle of nowhere and that is exactly what we wanted. Scott knows all the local restaurants and how to get to them, and gladly we took his recommendations. We left as friends!

I want to confirm that ALL of the positive reviews of this Bed & Breakfast remain true! What a wonderful and unique place. It is indeed a "modern yet rustic" accommodation...peaceful, remote, well-appointed, clean, comfortable bed, etc. We heard hoot owls each morning, coyotes one night, saw a red fox and multiple deer. Grayson Highlands State Park and Jefferson National Forest are nearby with multiple trails to hike. Loren's diverse and unusual garden plants are also worthy of visiting and admiring. and, as described by others, the hosts (Loren & Scott) are lovely people---interesting, friendly, helpful, etc. And, of course, Scott's breakfast spread is OUTSTANDING! We looked for a b&b near Grayson Highlands to be easily accessible as base while we hiked Mt Rogers.||Loren and Scott are excellent hosts and accommodations are private, clean and, very well appointed including marvelous deck for evening unwinding.||We were up early and Scott exceeded expectations with a delightful breakfast basket including hot to go cups before 6 AM!! It's worth sleeping late though because you get superb breakfast up at the main house with fresh omelets or French toast, homemade scones and fruits.||Another "exceeded expectations" followed our hike through a torrential downpour. Scott dried our soaked clothes which saved us from having a soggy second day - thanks Scott.||Great locale and yes, international connection is a bit spotty although accomodation has wifi.
