Sila Thai Cuisine

This is a great restaurant to have in Leavenworth! The owner has lots of neat stories to tell about the ingredients such as the basil. The service felt very personal but not intrusive at all. Dishes are superb but perhaps run a touch on the spicy side. I loved the pad kaprao and the spring rolls. They have table, booth, and bar seating. They have three or four parking spaces in the front. Be careful pulling in and out (traffic!).

We are super picky about our Thai food- it has to be the real deal. Look at the pics: the Pad Thai is light colored, not because it has no spice (this was a level 3) but because they use tamarind and palm sugar, not ketchup, to sweeten the sauce. We are SO LUCKY to have this place in Leavenworth! We have eaten here 3 times now- we got take out the first time, dined in the 2nd, and last night we really tested them with a huge take out order for about 25 people! They got every single order correct and everyone was very happy! The owners are so kind and friendly; they already have regulars. When we dined in, 2 of the maybe 6 tables were already known to the owners. That speaks highly of the quality and caliber.

Found this place on a whim, decided to give it a try. There was a very large to go order the restaurant was getting together which threw their rhythm off a bit. Our server Chaiyut, he was friendly and accommodating. What we ordered: 1.) Crap Rangoon $6.99 crispy outside with cream cheese and bits of crap inside these were not bad. 2.) Chicken Potstickers $7.99 we ordered them steamed next time I will order fried, but the correct way to be prepared would be fried on one side then steamed a bit before serving. 3.) Red Curry with Chicken $16.99 my husband said it was ok he would have liked it if the curry sauce was a bit thicker in consistency. 4.) Thai noodle soup with pork $14.99 the soup broth was very bland in taste. I took the leftover home so I could add more seasonings.

This place is a hit and miss Thai food. I ordered a Spicy Tum Yum Noodles soup and it taste like eating Pad Thai or sweet broth based. The Pad Ke Mao is very good. I ordered a Pad See Ew to go. Pad See Ew is a slightly sweet soy based sauce dish. The taste was ok as it wasn't sweet enough. The noodles wasn't soft enough. The chicken was too dry and very little chicken. The portion was small for $16. Another disappointed Thai restaurant in the area.

Happy to report that I definitely recommend trying the new Sila Thai restaurant at 5th & Spruce — next to Domino’s Pizza. It is legit Thai food (I spent 6 weeks in Thailand back in the day 😉). We had the potstickers for an appetizer, and then the Pad Ke-Mao with shrimp and the Pineapple Fried Rice also with shrimp. All very tasty and medium spicy/hot was just right — flavorful and tangy but not ‘burn your taste buds hot.’ LOL. You can get hotter, of course. The service was friendly and the restaurant was very clean. I plan to return plus get takeout from there going forward. So happy to have a very good Thai restaurant in Leavenworth that doesn’t have other associated issues. Enough said.
