Side Street Cafe is a lovely hidden gem. Well, maybe it's not so hidden - it always seems bustling, but never crowded. The food is standard diner fare, satisfying and enjoyable. The coffee is passable, but it's served in the most random mugs, which I absolutely love. The service is quick, friendly, but nothing that makes a lasting impression, generally. You'll get in, get a solid meal, and get going. No need to complicate things.
I've been coming here since they opened. And I moved out of Cali in 2013 - I've lived in 3 other states since then and eaten in many more. I've tried eggs Benedict at 1,000's of restaurants in my 12 years away and NO ONE can compete!!! Absolutely hands down the best eggs Bennie I've ever had!!! I love that it remains unchanged and everything is still pure perfection. I ordered a half order and I'm stuffed!!
I’ve been eating at side street for 15+ years. I’ve had multiple things from both the breakfast and lunch menu. You really can’t go wrong with other anything. The pancakes and waffles are delicious. The biscuits and gravy are a classic and the scrambles are yummy. The sandwiches on the lunch menu are delicious and they have a really good a variety of hot and cold. The portions are very generous and I always leave full. I took my husband here for his first time, and while he got a very classic and simple sandwich- he LOVED it. I got the French dip on garlic toast (getting it on the garlic toast was a little trick I learned from eating there so many times and being close with the people who work there) with sweet potato fries. My mom got the classic breakfast and my husband got the ham and c
Shelby at Side St. Café was fantastic. The food was excellent, and the variety of Benedict options is impressive. I enjoyed the Sidecar Omelette, but what truly elevated the experience was Shelby’s warm, attentive, and professional service. Great meal, great atmosphere, and outstanding hospitality, looking forward to coming back.
I discovered this place earlier this year, and it is now my FAVORITE breakfast place in the area. I always get the bacon waffle plate (has eggs and breakfast meat of your choice) I know of no other place around that makes bacon waffles (or bacon pancakes) even if asked to make them special. Another good choice is the pecan waffle 🧇 😋 Often crowded, so parking can be hard to find, but I've never had to wait to get seated. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. I've seen several dog owners bring their dogs for outside dining. They do open early and close early as well, so you have to catch them before they close at 2pm. Lunch items also available. Slightly expensive, but worth it for an occasional splurge (IMHO)
