Sichuan Cottage

This place used to be super crowded and super busy. While food was still ok the service was not up to the mark. The restaurant was empty on a Saturday evening around 7PM. They did have a lot of pick-ups though. I wish they had better service. This used to be one of the best places not just in Marlboro but also in New Jersey.

This used to be our go-to Chinese restaurant whenever we're in town; however, sometime during the Pandemic the ownership changed. We took out a few dishes from the new ownership and were utterly disgusted with the quality. It's been a few more years. I am not sure if ownership changed again, but we decided to give it another chance. I didn't recognize the owner - not sure if it was because of the absence of mask. But first impression was she didn't care to be cordial or friendly, just doing the basic part as a wait staff. On the plus side, the chairs and tables have been upgraded from what I could remember. We ordered our usual dishes in order to gauge the current quality. 2 staple Sichuan dishes: Kung Pao Chicken ($14.95)and Shredded Beef with Hot Green Pepper ($17.95). We also added

The service is not really friendly. The are not accepting Amex or Discover. If you like spicy food, this is definitely the wrong place. Asked specifically several times to make it extra hot and spicy. Food came not spicy at all. My wife likes it where she wouldn't even touch it if it would be just slightly spicy. Do not recommend.

Have to be honest, we went here cuz our first choice was packed to the rafters. Chicken lo mein and general tsos chicken were very good. Soup was killer too. Will definitely be back

Not a fancy restaurant but the food is a pass for my flavor. Some dishes are a hit and miss but their Sichuan dishes are on point. The service does need some improvement, the cashier isn’t smiling for anyone. Dishes recommended: chicken\beef broccoli or string beans, fried fish filet salt pepper, fish filet with chill in hot oil, ox tongue and tripe in chilli oil.
