Man I tell you. I've lived here fir a while and ignorantly missed this Cozy Restaurant. Its age is very attractive on the inside if you like 1800s homes and buildings the Johnson Family has really out done themselves with a great little menu and superb drinks. Their hospitality is what we so here in Kentucky and this place offers it all. Thank you for the outstanding steaks and baked potatoes were fabulous. Come on down to our quiet town with hidden gems be ause this ones a Diamond in the rough!!
This family owned for six generations Inn sits above a bar that is a regular of the locals. I had the honor of meeting the owner and learned about the bar, the fire in 1913 and how it had been restored. The bar is an amazing piece of woodwork. I was welcomed like family. This is a little gem of a place. New Haven sits back off of I-65 about 15 miles, but it is worth the drive into the small town. If you like trains, you are in luck as the historic train station is just outside the inn. I stayed in room 6, the largest of the rooms, on the corner directly above the bar. I believe they serve breakfast on the weekends. My room had a shower, but it appears some rooms might share a shower. Glorious simple antiques. It could benefit from more work (my room had a patch that needed to be repainted
We ate there about a month ago and it was good enough food with a great waitress (high school or college age woman). We ate there again Saturday evening (8/30/25). This waitress was absolutely terrible and the steak I ordered was still refrigerator cold inside. I had requested cooked to no pink left. They took it back to cook more and brought it back to me in less then 2 minutes with it still being refrigerator cold in parts. Their steaks are really thin. No reason not to be able to get it hot all the way through.
Traveled to New Haven during August to ride the train at the Kentucky railway museum. We stayed at the Sherwood inn and it was a wonderful experience. It was living a slice of Americana. Dean and his wife are wonderful hosts. The steak dinner was perfect and the Bloody Marys even better! Train station within walking with a biker bar across the street was a great time!! The Sherwood Inn has a great bar area ! The whole trip was a great experience .
Great food and drinks with a local, authentic feel in both the bar and restaurant. Went to the bar for live music and an appetizer then into the restaurant for a quiet dinner. Pulled pork nachos are enough for two, and the steak was perfect.
