We recently revisited Shahi Darbar in Jackson Heights, a spot that used to be known for its all-you-can-eat buffet with an impressive variety of dishes. On arrival, we realized the restaurant has since changed its format, it’s no longer a buffet, but rather a steam-table style eatery offering ready-to-serve dishes. One side features meat options, another has vegetarian curries and rice, and the third displays their traditional Indian sweets. The atmosphere was casual and family-oriented, with several families dining in, possibly due to the holiday. Seating was comfortable enough for a quick meal, and the service was straightforward: you order at the counter, take a seat, and your food is brought to your table once it’s warmed up. I ate here yesterday. Got 1 chicken samosa and one cup of tea. Service was quick and only cost $3. But after I ate the food, my stomach was hurting me all night. I was running to the bathroom all night. Please make the food fresh.

The food here is so delicious. This is a great place to eat. I've been to many Indian restaurants in the area and so far this is something I was looking for to eat and enjoy and have a wonderful break/lunch after my route. Im definitely satisfied and will be going here every chance I get.

I don’t have any complaints about the food. Additionally, I have had no problems with other employees, who have always been friendly with me. However, the short girl with black spots on her face doesn’t know how to behave with customers. She was totally rude and didn’t know what to say and what not to say. She behaves like she is the boss, but I don’t think so. I wanted a samosa, but she didn’t listen to me properly as she was talking with someone else on the phone. I told her 3-4 times, but there was no response, so I didn’t bother to tell her again. After I finished my food, I told her that I had asked for a samosa, and she was like, "No, you haven’t told me." This is without a doubt a must-go spot. It serves extremely good food at an affordable price. I recommend the chicken burger as it is without a doubt the best chicken burger in the entirety of the Jackson Heights area. This in tandem with their wonderfully friend staff and their fast service makes it nothing less than 5 stars.
