Shady Glade Cafe

Surprisingly delicious! The fried catfish and BLT were so good. Don’t skip on their desserts either; you’ve gotta try this place if you’re in the area!

On a quest to find the best Chicken Fried steak in East Texas, after some research, I chose this place for my birthday lunch courtesy of a long time friend who lives in DeBerry. The setting is typical Caddo Lake picturesque, with a boat ramp adjacent to the parking lot and plenty of Cypress trees draped in Spanish moss as far as the eye can see. Sit where you'd like, someone will be with you in short order. There's no pretense here, it's simple but basic, clean and neat. There's a good bit to choose from but we were on a mission, so we just needed to choose our sides to go with our CFS. Lee picked mashed potatoes and I selected the French fries. A fresh tossed salad is included and it was fresh iceberg, chopped and garnished with diced tomatoes and topped with shredded cheddar with dressin

5 stars If you’re anywhere near Caddo Lake, TX, do yourself a favor and stop at Shady Glade Café. The chicken fried steak was one of the best I’ve ever had—crispy edges, perfectly seasoned with a Cajun twist, and topped with rich, flavorful gravy. The sweet tea was ice-cold and just the right amount of sweet—true Southern comfort. This place was packed for a reason. The service is 10/10—super friendly, fast, and welcoming. You can tell the staff genuinely care. They had already sold out of their fried bologna special, which cracked me up—classic Southern vibes. Whether you’re visiting, fishing, or just passing through, Shady Glade Café is a must-visit for a great meal and even better hospitality.

Delicious! Had the BLT. So good! Great little café right on the water. Just dock your boat and fill the tummy.

Friendly service, good coffee and large portions. Food might be a bit salty for some, but we happen to prefer it that way. Reasonable prices and conveniently located amongst all the vacation rentals on Caddo Lake.
