Select Oyster Bar: A Back Bay Gem Select Oyster Bar is an upscale seafood experience. The heavy Mediterranean-style influences shine through in their dishes and they focus on serving high-quality seafood with an excellent range of wines and spirits to complement the dishes. Their team is down-to-Earth, attentive, and experts on the menu. The meal started with a dozen small-medium sized Wellfleet, MA oysters that had a great taste of the sea on the finish. The yellowtail hamachi crudo while fresh, was a bit salty for my taste, and was accompanied by crispy ginger, cucumber, and radish for a great variety of textures. 🔥🔥🔥 The standout of the evening was dressed Maine Lobster with fines-herbes, lemon, warm butter. A great dish from start to finish, it had two slices of delicious bread to

At Select Oyster Bar, seafood is treated not as spectacle but as material, handled with restraint, confidence, and an evident respect for provenance. Tucked along Gloucester Street in the Back Bay, the restaurant offers a narrow, stainless-steel-lined room that feels more Parisian brasserie than New England fish house. It is intimate, energetic, and quietly serious about what arrives on the plate. The Faroe Islands salmon crudo sets the tone. The fish is sliced cleanly, its color vivid, its texture supple, dressed just enough to sharpen its natural richness without obscuring it. Oil pools lightly at the base of the bowl, carrying subtle seasoning that enhances rather than competes. It is a dish that trusts the ingredient and asks the diner to do the same. We had a quick lunch at this place and you must order their lobster roll! It's $60 lobster sauté in butter and nicely put in this amazing soft and warm brioche roll which was made fresh every morning from the local bakery up in Cambridge along with fried homemade potato chips. We also had the hamachi crudo, which was good but the lemony passion fruit sauce was kinda throw me off. We also had kakamora daiquiri which was pretty good cocktail with the coconut rum and pineapple juice & the glengiddich on the rock. This restaurant also included their service tip on their receipt (20%) and they told you that when they handed you the receipt. Overall, this is a nice place for drinks and quick bite for us before the ball game.

Stopped in after reading all the great reviews and maybe expected too much. The setting might be meant to feel rustic but the metal chairs were uneven and the table felt cramped even for two and there were four of us. The food itself was fine but with everything else it just did not add up to a place I would return to. I can see why some people enjoy it but it was not for us.
