Second Daughter Artisanal Bakery

Hidden gem alert! I do not rate places 5 stars nor am I a huge sweets person anymore, but Second Daughter Bakery inside the BOK building is a warm, cozy spot in South Philly you don’t want to miss. Rhonda was super welcoming, and every treat from the Best of Philly Brownie to the Mushroom Galette and Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Jawn is perfect. Can’t wait for the next time I can try more.

GOOD but expensive, so bring a friend to share. FOOD -breakfast sandwich: is massive and easily split for 2 people. Tasty, savory, and all forces locked. Decadent bacon, incredible bread, and ok eggs (they need to be cooked a tad longer). Delicious and a must get. -galette: different options here. We got the cherry almond and loved it. -brownie: these were a huge letdown. Very average tasting. Suggest passing on these (which is disappointing given they have so many options). The “best of Philly” brownie tasted straight out a Betty Crocker box. Be cautious - some of the prices are highway robbery. $12 for a blueberry scone? Granted the breakfast sandwich was $14 but easily split between two people.

Omg the best brownies evaaa. Ive tried the regular, Oreo, and the Reese’s. The Reese’s takes the cake hands down! No wonder why it’s sold out early every time I visit. I will say they are very expensive. Definitely an every now and then treat.

Located on the 4th floor of the bok building, this bakery has a small storefront at the opening to their immaculate kitchen. The natural light all throughout this building is amazing but it just added to the light and airy feeling this afternoon. The bakery is on the back of the 9th st side of the building but as soon as you get to the 4th floor, the signs and the smells will guide you there. I really loved everything I got here. I had the Oreo fudge brownie - it was the best brownie I've had from a bakery in the city. Hands down there was no question about it. We also got the cheddar and herb scone. On first bite it was tasty, nicely salted, not too dense, a little flaky without being crumbly and buttery. Then I heated it up in the microwave and it was a whole other level. The cheese was

Second Daughter Bakery has really delicious pastries, desserts, and food. The shop itself has a comfy and home like vibe, I genuinely enjoy coming in to grab a brownie, cookie, or breakfast sandwich. The staff in store are very kind and I’ve never had an issue until trying to place an order. I went into the store a week before I needed a cake and asked about ordering one and they told me to call during the week. I left and called on their off day without realizing, I called again to try to place an order. One phone number leads to a recording saying they’re closed for the new year. When I called the second number someone picked up. She was very kind and let me know she was also fulfilling another order and would call back in 15 mins. No one ever called me back and in fact I called the numb
