Customer Reviews
I have proudly eaten at this restaurant for years. But today they were open had customers seated had customers leaving with food and told me she wasn't serving food today. Only thing she kept saying was no no no as if I have done something to her or the restaurant. I think maybe it's cause of what is happening to immigrants but don't have an attitude with the customers take that up to trump. I don't support anything he does. I remember everything I've learned and seen about whites only. Whites only parks, restaurants, bathrooms. It felt worse being discriminaed against by another black. I'm okay spending my money were it's appreciated and not going where I'm not wanted. I love that other Haitian/Caribbean restaurant owners are still functioning respectfully to the customer. Customer service was good. I got the legumes (mixed vegetables) with rice. Wasn't what I was expecting but the flavor was good. The actual black bean portion of my meal literally had no beans, none, it was just the liquid.
⸻ I recently tried this restaurant and unfortunately, I was disappointed with most of the food. The dishes I ordered tasted spoiled and were overcooked, which really took away from the experience. The one bright spot was the pikliz — it was fresh, flavorful, and had the right amount of spice. If the rest of the menu matched that quality, it would have been a much better meal. Even my dog didn’t eat it.
I want to start by saying the 18-year-old cashier was phenomenal wish I could address him properly, but idk his name, so kind and professional, truly a standout. That said, the food didn’t quite meet expectations. The oxtails lacked flavor and didn’t fall off the bone as hoped, and the red snapper was underwhelming. The hot sauce helped a bit, but overall, the meal didn’t justify the $80 price tag in my opinion.
I ate everything except the legumes because it contained meat. I requested one without meat but maybe the lady forgot. The akra is the most spiciest akra I have ever eaten but everything was very flavorful.
