How the hell did this gem of a restaurant receive only 4.2 rating?! We were visiting from FL & staying at a resort close by. Found this wonderful place & decided to try it...we were so happy we did. We walk in & were welcomed by smiles & positive vibes. Gregory was our server and was amazing. They even brought us their famous & delicious hush puppies as a sweet gesture. I am from the south and never had hush puppies like that! I got their flavorful shrimp tacos , my mom loved their catfish sandwich & we all loved their coleslaw ! Our friend also loved her fish & chips! Omg seriously if you are ever in Santee, SC. You must try this gem cause it truly has the best food, wonderful atmosphere & an amazing staff & chef ! Let's bring this place to the top like it deserves🩷

The food was okay. Small restaurant in need of some renovations. Tables were taped, floor was sticky. Service was great and atmosphere was good. Just needs some maintenance. Prices were very reasonable

There's so much to love about this place. The food and service were exceptional. It's challenging to cook scallops well and make white fish and shrimp interesting, but they pulled it off! Also, the hushpuppies with butter herb sauce were great—I almost ordered more for dessert but chose the homemade peach cobbler instead, which I had to eat slowly so it would last longer. Our server, Gregory, was fantastic—knowledgeable, personable, and attentive when you needed him, yet gave us space to enjoy our meal. The old-time music gave the place an upscale, nostalgic feel. Definitely worth the drive if you're not nearby.

What really nice place to eat. We shared the fried fish platter plus an extra side, we were stuffed! But what made the meal memorable were Reggie (?) and Leah, such sweet people... as we talked the night away. Make sure you get the hush puppies too, s.o.o.o good!!! The oil they N use is the secret, everything was lite and fluffy tasting!

The Santee Seafood Bistro is a real find, especially if you crave catfish! It’s a bright little standalone building just a couple of turns off I-95 at exit 96 onto Old Number Six Highway (SC-6), on Bass Dr at the end of Britain St. There’s enough parking to the side and around back. There’s outdoor seating on the north side, but it was a little chilly for that in Dec (2024). With a counter up front and tables to the left, there’s plenty of seating for the size of the place. The hostess was welcoming and attentive, and the other guests were also friendly to us travelers. We came here for the hot fresh crispy fried whole bone-in catfish, and it was perfectly cooked in a simple light cornmeal salt and pepper breading just like we always had growing up.
