Santa Fe Springs City Library

We came in today with our family to apply for passports, after being turned away last Tuesday (12/30) when the office was unexpectedly closed for no stated reason. Today, we were told the rules had just changed: Tuesdays are now appointment only in 2026. This would be frustrating enough on its own—but the office was empty. No customers. No line. Still, we were refused service and told, essentially, “Those are the new rules.” As George Orwell wrote, “The essence of bureaucracy is to make the possible impossible.” That quote perfectly captures this experience. There was no practical reason not to help us—only a rigid adherence to a rule that appeared to exist for its own sake. I love experiencing this library next door to the Town Center Hall where they always have the Thursday Art Club, and a friend of mine like Virginia works in the city library which she loves books. I can get inspiration for writing and illustrating children's books from Once A Butterfly if I would plan on creating family friendly stories.

Closed today, Thursday and opening hours are till 8 pm. No paper on door for inconvenience, just closed, false advertising their hours .people are great here but why is it closed ! 😞

Very nice and clean been here once and I loved it

A friend of mine was handling some professional business at city hall, so I decided to go to the adjacent library while she handled her affairs. So I sit down at the computers and pull out my LA County library card to log in, but it doesn't work! So I go ask the worker if my card is expired, but I tell her I just used it last month. She informs me that in order to use THEIR library, I need to fill out paperwork to get THEIR card! So even though, SFS is in the county of LA, I can't use an LA County Library card, apparently! But I tell her, "I need another library card, like I need a whole in my head --- I already have six (believe it or not)." But she says, "That's Policy!" Senseless!
