It's a heavy lift to live up to one's childhood memories of having a muffuletta in New Orleans - taken there by my own Sicilian family, but Sandy does so and improves on it. Starting with the most important thing, the sandwich (I had 1 slice of the Meat version with a side of slaw and chips). the meat and cheese is layered neatly and generously, the paste and juices are flavorful without being overwhelming, and the bread is the major improvement having put it through a press it is lightly crisp on the top keeping it a reasonable thickness for even the most modest mouth. The service was friendly, accommodating and passionate about their product. You feel welcome. The atmosphere is simple, unique and cozy. Less hole in the wall and more a comfortable spot to sit and enjoy. Unique stickers
Once in a while I crave a muffuletta and, of course, Sandy’s is just the place to go. I really enjoyed the combo meal with the 1/4 muffuletta, 8oz herby slaw, and a bag of chips. Wonderful lunch! Bit on the heavier side but that’s what you sign up for. The herby slaw was delicious, fresh, and has a balanced sweetness. They have parsley, chives, and dill mixed in there with a mustard dressing, and I found it to be superb with the sandwich. Staff were nice, and you order at the counter and bus your own table.
After spending the morning Slingshoting nonconformists out in the panhandle with One Eyed Jack and his son Little Peeper we walked up Haight to Sandy's for one of those world famous sandwiches. Probably the most underrated sandwich joint in the city! 5 stars ☆☆☆☆☆
One of the best cookies I’ve ever had. My friend bought one to share when we were hanging in the panhandle and after one bite I knew I had to get my own, or two! The perfect combination of chocolaty buttery morsel goodness. Can’t wait for the next time I’m nearby and can get my chocolate chip cookie fix. The sandwiches are incredible too, such a delicious novelty, and the service was so friendly and personable. Big fan.
Didn't get their famous muffaletta but tried their egg sandwich and cookie. Cookie was amazing, kinda pricey at $5 but worth it for the size and quality. Egg sandwich, while good, didn't feel like it fully justified the $14 price tag. Not the most complex flavor and just put between two pieces of regular white bread. Even with that though the customer service was great, and if I'm ever around there again I will stop by for a cookie.
