Sandy Beach (Great Salt Plains designated swimming area)

Great place to picnic and canoeing. The water is not deep and it was muddy. My son is 4 feet tall and the water was up to height knees 20 meters in. He came out stinky and muddy, don’t intend to swim. There was a table and grilled the trees.

Stayed here November. So out of season but it was nice. Only ones here. Just passing through. These are tent only sights. Didn't realize this until the next day. We came in late with our fifth wheel set up then paid. We were wondering why it only gave us the option to pay for a tent site lol. We squared it away with the state park. But this was a nice place to stay for the night. Water spickets available. Picnic tables and fire rings. The bathrooms were really nice. They have two bathrooms and two showers. Very clean and well kept!

Enjoyed our day - the camping area has primitive site, RV sites, cabins. The beach is small but nice and shallow for swimmers. View is beautiful! The rangers were helpful when we had a question but the park covers such a large area they were hard to locate. We enjoyed going to Salt Flats as well.

Hidden gem of campgrounds! Quiet and in walking distance of the beach. Driving distance to great birding and crystal digging. RV spots are a little haphazardly placed and the grounds are too well lit for our taste. Excellent bathrooms and showers, great picnic pavilions.

The water was very shallow. Literally 2 feet probably at least 300yds out. Didn't go much further than that. It was nice and not as salty as you might see posted on the website. It was quite refreshing after a couple of hours of digging and a nice lunch at Cavali.
