I was very eager to try food here as I love exploring new places. I was amazed by the variety of vegetarian dishes and the taste of each item we had! We got a idli vada plate with the most delectable sambar and chutneys, paneer kathi roll which was oozing with cheese and paneer bhurji dosa cooked fully with ghee, my favorite! Their filter coffee is one of the best I have tried as well. Hope to visit soon
San Idli is hands down the best spot in Phoenix for authentic South Indian comfort food that feels like a home-cooked meal. You cannot miss their surprisingly excellent chole bhature which comes massive, fluffy fried bread with a rich, savory curry. For those who want to try a bit of everything, the lunch thali is a total game-changer offering a wide spread of diverse curries, dal, rice, and desserts that provide an explosion of traditional flavors on a single platter. They served with a variety of delicious chutneys and topped off with their signature traditional filter coffee. The service is fast and friendly, the space is clean and welcoming, and this place remains a total gem for anyone looking for high-quality vegetarian food at a great price.
Finally found authentic Andhra veg food in the USA! The meals were perfectly spiced with that true Andhra flavor — especially the sambar, pappu, and pickles. The rice was fresh and portions were generous. Loved the crispy dosa and the tangy rasam. The taste reminded me of home. Service was friendly and the place was clean and comfortable. Definitely recommended for anyone craving proper South Indian meals!”
San Idli is a newly opened restaurant in Phoenix, which is a branch of the one in San Diego focusing mainly on South Indian food, and it definitely shows promise. The food tastes good overall and feels authentic, but there are a few areas that need improvement. The sambhar could be better with more vegetables, and the idli and vada were not served hot, which made them feel like they may have been prepared earlier. The rava dosa was extremely thin, with very little batter used, making it feel more like a crisp sheet than a proper dosa. On the positive side, the service was good and the staff were friendly and welcoming, which made the visit pleasant. With better consistency, fresher servings, and improved portion balance, this place has a lot of scope to improve and could become one of the
We visited this South Indian restaurant as a group of five and waited nearly 30 minutes just to get a table. We came specifically for the thali, which is clearly the main attraction on the menu, only to be told they had only one thali left. That was shocking, considering it’s the most complete and reasonable option they offer. We then tried to order combos, only to find out they were out of those as well. At that point, the available menu options were extremely limited. Since we were already seated, we ordered a few tiffins, but they turned out to be poorly prepared and badly presented. Honestly, the presentation was so underwhelming that it felt like something we could have done better at home. The most unacceptable thing came when we asked for more rice for the single thali and we were
