From the moment we walked in, the service team set the tone for an exceptional evening. Warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, every member of the staff made us feel like honored guests rather than just another reservation. Chef Sam is nothing short of gifted. Not only is his culinary talent extraordinary, but his kindness and humility truly stand out. He personally came to our table to wish me well, a gesture that made the evening feel even more special and memorable. It’s rare to find a chef of such caliber who is also so gracious and present. Although Deborah, his mom, wasn’t there the evening we dined, I had the pleasure of speaking with her over the phone beforehand. She took her time walking me through the elaborate tasting veg menu with such patience and care. Her warmth and pr
I’ve been to a few restaurants with tasting menus and I must say this is one of my favorites. The ambience of the dining room reminds me of dining at my friends house. The staff/servers are extremely knowledgeable about the dishes and bring them to life with their presentations! As for the food…where do I begin? I love that Sam uses seasonal produce from local markets and vendors. It’s an element I appreciate. The flavor combinations are unique and make me do that little dance you do when you take a bite of some gooood food. Altogether, I’d say Sam’s Table is more than worth checking out (maybe even making it a monthly ritual with their changing tasting menus). 10/10 would recommend.
I've been wanting to go to this restaurant since it opened and we finally made it. We looked at the chef's tasting but didn't like the lack of choices so decided to go on Sunday for the a la carte. The space is lovely and cozy. They had a nice table for us as we were celebrating our anniversary. We brought a nice bottle of wine and started with the beets and the salsify. The beets were super smokey which was fine but after a couple of bites it was very overwhelming as it took over so the other flavors. The salad needed more seasoning as well as some citrus. The salsify was very well done and it was delicious! My husband ordered the cod which was good but spectacular and I ordered the duck which was quite underwhelming. It needed seasoning and the fat wasn't rendered as well so the skin was
Great new restaurant. We enjoyed the tasting menu (Friday and Saturday nights). Chef Sam is a master of discovering new, interesting foods to pair, many of which you may not expect to work. But they all do! The squash with silken tofu (pictured here) was one of many examples. Great vibe in the place - elegant but very comfortable. This place is a winner!
Had a wonderful dining experience celebrating our son's wedding at Sam's Table the other evening. We chose the tasting menu, and we were glad we did. When I first looked at the concisely written menu, I was a bit skeptical, given the prices. Once the food came, however, it occurred to me that perhaps the menu is simpler and less descriptive than most in order to enhance the "surprise factor" of the food. This is food as art! The celery root broth was an explosion of flavor in the mouth, a great opener to the meal. The house made rye bread (extra charge, and worth it) was dense and moist, with a crisp crust, served with room temperature butter. The Badger Flame beets salad was delicious and complex. The charred celtuce (a thick-stemmed lettuce, I learned) and uni was an umami "flavo
