Samba Montclair

When the check comes to around $80 per person, I expect a truly five-star experience—precise execution, layered flavors, and at least one moment of genuine awe. While this meal was solid, it never reached that level. We dined as a group of eight. I ordered the mahi-mahi and shrimp in coconut sauce, but unfortunately the fish was overcooked, which took away from what could have been a standout dish. The highlights of the evening were the cheese bread and the passion fruit dessert, both of which were excellent. At this price point, I expect elevated food to match the elevated cost. Based on this experience, I’m not convinced it does, and I’m unsure I’d return.

My recent visit to Samba’s was an extraordinary culinary experience, highly recommended by a dear friend who frequents the restaurant. As someone on a health journey, I appreciated her detailed background on Samba’s gluten-free options and commitment to quality. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated. The restaurant's exterior boasted a beautiful design with the added convenience of an adjacent parking lot. Inside, the decor was a thoughtfully executed blend of modern, quaint, rustic, vintage, and antique Brazilian influences. The table settings, featuring pumpkin/squash accents, antique salt and pepper shakers, wooden tables, and linen plate cloths, added a charming touch. My husband and I tried Samba for the first time, and everything—from the warm service to the food, drinks, and dessert—was phenomenal. Our server, Deborah, was fantastic and incredibly attentive. The dishes were fresh, flavorful, and felt truly authentic. We’ll definitely be recommending Samba to friends and family, and we can’t wait to come back!

I brought my parents here. The food, service, the ambience was wonderful. Especially, their desserts are to die for. Definitively recommended! Owners are wonderful. Yaşar and his staff took great care of us. Thanks for everything!
