Rutabaga Café

What a cute restaurant!! First when you pull up it looks like a house - that's because it is!! They are only open for dinner and only have 9 tables make a reservation to be safe, although we didn't and got right in. There are 3 tables to each room, great for privacy and an intimate meal. We got the little plate with Buffalo and blue cheese fried oysters. The flavor was so good! We also had key lime shrimp that was so good and not too sweet. We each ordered a meal and split it. I ordered the Filet Mignon with fried green tomatoes and shrimp, with vegetable medley and fried mashed potatoes. He ordered the red velvet chicken with greens and Mashed potatoes. We had the best time here!! lovely service, delicious food. I had the fried green tomato BLT and it was incredible! My partner had the fried oyster po boy with some delicious sides we were so happy to visit here and want to come back for dinner one day!

Love the ambiance and cozy rooms. Food was so good...the Filet Mignon with a blueberry balsamic glaze and a Gouda cheese baked potato. Honey glazed walnut shrimp... it was all delicious.

So I decided to accept my wife's offer for a father's day dinner and try the Rutabaga Cafe. The sign outside said cash only, not a good sign, and it only got more interesting from there... We walked in and waited a good 5 minutes before other patrons told us to sit where we liked. We sat down for about 5 more minutes and the only waitress took our drink order. About 10 minutes later, our drinks arrived, but 20 minutes in we still didn't have a menu. I ordered the special, Key lime shrimp, my wife had something called red velvet chicken and my daughter ordered shrimp and grits. At first we were told they were out of grits, then we were happy to learn they found some. I attempted to order a side of mushrooms and onions, but apparently they were out. What can I say about this little gem... A great place to grab a farm to table fare. I have eaten multiple items on the menu and they have been delicious each time. The wait is a little long but well worth it. If you're passing through Chattahoochee Florida, stopping for a bite, you will not be sore disappointed.
