Ruins Restaurant

The trifecta. Good service, good food, good bar. We visited during restaurant week and from the beginning we were impressed with the confidence. Holy giant face. The way they highlighted the ingredients and meals was outstanding. So healthy and so amazing. It’s too amazing to explain. Sam was an amazing server.

Fast service. Food was delicious. Caesar salad was better than any in recent memories. Love how the croutons of bread and cheese are smaller and spread through out so each bite has a crunch. Cheese was pleasant surprise with the crunch. Ribeye was cooked perfectly. Large portion. I dont usually like mashed potatoes but these were great as it soaked up all the flavor from the steak. Delicious.

Happy Hour must not be the time to come to this place on a Saturday. This place was nearly empty and the service was so slow. Must have been short staffed because we had to go get the bartender's attention a couple times when we needed something. The options were not great on a crumpled up paper menu. There weren't great appetizers at all on the menu. The dishes sounded interesting and three of us decided on the meatball and pasta dish. I was not a fan as my meatballs were burnt. The service was so slow! The table adjacent to us sat dirty the entire time and a spider even crawled out behind my jacket on the bench seat near the window. Not a great experience for us that's for sure.

Years ago, a partner made me promise to let them be the first to take me to Ruins. I found this request hilarious, but indeed merited, as I certainly have earned a reputation for "getting around..." the local food scene, that is! I happily made that promise. Shit got weird. There was even a whole pandemic wreaking havoc on the food scene! We never made it to Ruins before our relationship ended. I broke my promise yesterday! Ruins is now open in a beautiful location in Kendall Yards. I had no problems with parking. It felt safe and beautiful and clean... all those positive aspects of gentrification! Service was okay, pasta was delicious. I asked for bread with my pasta, just looking at it I knew it was burnt! It wasn’t busy at all during lunch ( I was the only one sitting)so why would you send this out??? Disappointing.
