Very cute place! It was pretty busy when we arrived but the staff were attentive, kind and very helpful when taking our large to-go order. The curry goat and curry chicken are both delicious! They ran out of the brown stewed chicken so we only got one plate of it but it was delicious. I prefer my brown stewed chicken to be less sweet though. The rice & peas, cabbage and plantain were also good. I do suggest getting there early for beef patties or calling ahead to see if they have any because we missed out! Lastly, try one of their desserts! The sweet potato cake was absolutely amazing! This is a great place. Highly recommend!
This is a gem!! The food portions are very very generous and the flavors are phenominal. I ordered the oxtail plate with peas&rice cabbage and plantains, wow!! and I had a beef patty, so crisp and tasteful! I unequivocally recommend Ruby's and will be returning when I'm back in town.
In town on a work trip & came here for food. My order was ready upon pickup. I ordered Jerk salmon, greens, Macaroni & a jerk chicken patty. The jerk chicken patty was delicious! However, I was really disappointed with the salmon. It doesn’t appear to be authentic salmon it’s very hard, the taste, the texture and the look is not of salmon & that really ruined the meal for me. Wish i would’ve just gotten the jerk chicken
I was in the area and stopped in to get fed. I say fed since each time I've eaten here it has been get good food and portions. I have had their ox tails, beef patties, mac n' cheese, and plantains other times I have eaten here and I always felt fed. Today I had the jerk chicken, rice n' peas, and collard greens. The jerk chicken never disappoints the way it it marinated and has the right touch of heat. The rice 'n peas were good but wished for a little more peas. Surprisingly the greens were cooked well and had a hint of sweetness to them. Many places overcook, over salt, over season greens but not here. The funny part of today's lunch was getting on the bus and letting the "free smells" flow through the back rows. Few peeps asked me what's good and I shared what I have and where I
Upon arrival at the Virginia location, despite placing the order 25 minutes prior and waiting for over an hour and a half, the food was not yet prepared. While dining with my son's at Chili's, I contacted the restaurant to inquire about the order status. The owner provided two beverages as a gesture of goodwill. The food quality was average. Considering the extended wait time, I was somewhat disappointed, as I could have opted for Jam Doung in DC, although they are closed on weekends. The chicken is tender, The mac & cheese lacks flavor and the cabbage could have saute 3-5 min long my partner said her food was average...I don't think I will return
