I was quite curious about this fast food chain, which revolves around Thai food. It’s not really common to find restaurants like this in the US, but I want to give it a try. Since I don’t want to eat too much or too small, I ordered combo 1, which comes with one entree and one side. It’s odd how they used like a two-combo plate for this, because they just left one slot open. They should have put it in a bowl, but they have an option for that. However, that’s if you’re order a smaller portion of this combo. The fried rice tastes alright. Not too bland, not too special. The chicken is very tasty though. It really has a kick in flavor. Also, the staff gave me a piece of mango chicken I believe for me to try. It tastes good though.

The portion sizes were generous at Ruby Thai Kitchen in the Westfield Valley Fair mall, and the prices were fair for a mall food court. The service was fast and efficient. However, this isn’t authentic Thai cuisine. The Pad Thai was overly too sweet, and didn’t have the balance of flavors you’d expect from a traditional Thai dish. The seasonings of the entrees are more like Chinese-style food, rather than Thai-style. If you’re looking for a quick, filling meal with bold, sweet flavors and don’t mind that it’s not true to Thai culinary roots, this spot might work for you. But if you’re seeking authentic Thai taste, you might want to look elsewhere.

After we ate the orange chicken, rice, and noodles there, we all developed stomach pain that same evening. It was definitely after that meal, since we didn’t eat anything else. All of us started feeling stomach pain at the same time, literally within a few minutes while we were eating the chicken. It didn’t taste fresh, and there was far too much breading.

Hands down the best dish here, in an otherwise pretty ordinary menu, is the Singapore noodles with chicken. Trust me, skip the actual Thai food and go these Singapore noodles!
