Route 1 Country Store

Well this was a treat. While traveling, I came across this little store that was jam packed with odds and ends of goodies and knives, and some kids stuff....way more stuff then I can mention. They also make sandwiches to order. You fill out the paper form and they start to make it. With the line I witnessed at lunchtime it's a well loved local place to eat. My sandwich was delicious! There are some outdoor tables for nicer weather and a few small tables inside.

I was constantly hearing people rave about this store. I went today and was not disappointed. The staff are extremely friendly, the food was so delicious and not to mention the big bag of treats that I bought to bring home I will definitely be returning and highly recommended to anyone. I purchased a combo turkey and Munster cheese (they do not skip on the meat)sandwiches, sweet potato chips,and sweet tea. My take home treats were chocolate and Carmel doughnuts (tasted exactly like colonial doughnuts.$1.79, chocolates 50 Cent each and a double chocolate cake $2.30?but the best part is the drinks are made in take home cups which I love and a must when the tea is delicious and their tea definitely is!!!! There were a lot of artisan products, and handcrafted shawls that were beautiful.

Great value, home cooked meals, country vibes, friendly smiles from staff and customers. The food taste like something your grandma would make back before the days of processed preservatives. It's cheaper AND better quality than anywhere else within a 30+ mile radius. It's hard not to buy the homemade pies. They also have gluten free options too.

This is by far the freshest and most satisfying food I’ve had in all of Virginia. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the space is clean, and the service is exceptional. Every dish is clearly prepared with care and passion you can truly taste it in every bite. I will definitely be returning. The prices cannot be beat & im speaking from experience

This place has the absolute best chicken salad sandwiches and such a wide variety of amazing foods. My personal favorite is their pickled section. I highly recommend the pickled garlic, and the pickled asparagus. You will not regret coming here.
