Roppongi Robata & Sushi

My boyfriend and I came for our anniversary and loved their omakase!! The fish was fresh, each piece was unique and delicious. The service was also top-notch, super attentive without being overbearing. I ended up taking off two stars because they allowed vaping indoors. I saw a guy smoke throughout his meal. I know some might not agree on this take but this was something that mattered to me. In such a cozy environment where you’re supposed to savor your meal, the last thing you want is the risk of second hand smoking. Honestly, I wish I hadn’t docked those stars because it really could’ve been a full 5-star experience.

I tried the Omakase, and every single course was on another level — super fresh, beautifully presented, and made with real skill. The chefs were incredibly attentive and didn’t rush anything. They waited for me to fully finish each piece before preparing the next one, which made the whole experience feel personal and authentic. They also offer more than just Omakase. The carne salad was fantastic, and the sushi rolls were honestly some of the best I’ve ever had. You can really taste the quality in everything they serve. Omakase is great! They import top quality ingredients from Japan. The Uni is excellent. Spicy crispy rice from omakase is excellent. Food is inventive and fresh. Service is lovely from everyone, including Vincent.

My family and I had the absolute pleasure of attending the tuna cutting event at Roppongi Robata, and it was truly an unforgettable experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was electric, filled with excitement, curiosity, and an incredible appreciation for Japanese culinary artistry. Watching the chef expertly break down an entire bluefin tuna right in front of us was nothing short of mesmerizing. Every movement was precise, skillful, and educational. The team took the time to explain each cut, the texture differences, and how each one would be prepared turning the whole event into both a show and a masterclass. And then came the sushi. They recommended I get the tuna omakase since they bought fresh blue tuna. We’ve had tuna in various forms, grilled, sashimi, sushi, along side a deep flavored yet slightly sweetened matcha ice cream dessert and I felt this place was one of the better sushi spots in Staten Island and Brooklyn. Pricing was relatively high but the freshness and taste was worth it. I saw other people’s food beside us and didn’t really see frozen sashimi but I’ll test that out later when we go back.
