River Maiden

I tried calling River Maiden (opens at 7:30) on the way, but there was only a recording telling me to order on the website—which isn’t an option while driving. They have a good-sized parking lot. I ordered their Egg Sando with Bacon. Side note: I asked for a printed receipt and was told, “We don’t print receipts here.” The ciabatta was good, the eggs were a quality scramble, and the bacon was flavorful without a lot of fat like fast-food bacon. Neither the menu nor the emailed receipt mentioned what kind of cheese was used, but whatever it was, it did the job. River Maiden’s scramble is more gourmet—but that also makes it prone to droppings. You definitely need a plate underneath it. Cost before tip: $11.42. -VanPort Insider

Usually, I don’t love avocado toast. But this is the best I have EVER had. I also got the yogurt bowl which was really good - not too sweet. My husband got the breakfast sandwich and said it was one of the best he’s had. Super cute inside too! LOVE this place

Worth the detour off I-5 for breakfast. Saying the food is “delicious” doesn’t it justice. Get an egg sandwich and marionberry scone - you won’t be disappointed.

Just the name evokes magic and romance. For me it is the dark of night on a black river with lanterns swinging and the giant paddles sluicing into the water in a never ending circle. Down river we hear the foghorn calling as if missing lost love. The place itself reminds me of certain hippie haunts from my youth. Some along trekking roads in the far east and some in my home town, filled with a bustling of people meeting and talking and eating real food… but cleaner. Those establishments were always filled with the well traveled dust from the road. With a touch of hesitation I got a turkey sandwich and a large hot mocha. The fluffy, buttery scrambled eggs are truly my fave!! Gluten-free & vegan options are available as well. My family has been frequenting River Maiden for at least a couple of years now. The dining area has a chill & cozy vibe with a plethora of houseplants - honestly makes me feel like I’m at home. Owner, Melissa, is a kind & down-to-earth human that really has a passion for her business & it’s people. She has cultivated a culture that is unmatched & it shows in the loyalty of her staff.
