Traveling along I-94, I needed a coffee. Always trying to support local, I followed the signs for Rising Kites to a quaint row of gift shops, restaurant, bar and a brewery. Just past a train crossing was Rising Kites. I ordered a Pumkin Spice Latte (yeah, I know... but its that season, and I love them). It was delicious! Because I'm a collector of stickers, especially cool and unique places I've been, I purchased one of theirs. Paying cash, the 6 cents over the dollar became a little awkward, so I simply requested the change be kept. Thats when I learned they don't take tips, but only donations. Furthermore, I found they are a great non-profit that supports families of children with Down Syndrome AND hire teammembers who have special attributes. I learned about this awesome place.... just
We decided to try somewhere new before heading home from camping.. this is the sweetest coffee shop. The vibe is warm and welcoming, the staff is super friendly and helpful. There is space to just hang out, it’s very peaceful. The purpose of the shop is incredible and it is so nice to see everyone being included. We ordered lattes, I felt it was lacking espresso flavor and tasted more like steamed milk.
What a unique and inclusive coffee shop! I love the caring staff, words of encouragement, children play area, and backyard. I only wish I lived closer!
A wonderful coffee shop. The staff are super friendly & the coffee is delicious. It’s also a wonderful study/work spot because they have nice, wide tables.
Oh my gosh what a cute coffee shop! We stopped by on our way up to northern cities on the coast of Michigan and it was so well thought out. We had our 2 small children under 3 years old with us and they had a changing table, apple juice boxes, a kids reading nook, tons of toys for them to play with AND a fenced in turf area for them to run out some energy!! It was kid friendly and also handicap accessible. It’s not far off the highway and totally worth the stop if you are in the area or just passing by. The menu doesn’t show food but they had some grab and go foods like donuts and croissants. 🥐
