Rio Chico - Hardeeville

Atmosphere comfortable and clean. Service was quick. Ordered chicken soup, carnitas tacos. The chicken soup was outrageously flavorful. Best I’ve had an any Mexican restaurant. Serving is plentiful. Carnitas tacos also flavorful. I think they came with corn tortillas we would prefer flour. We will be back.

We visited on Cinco de Mayo and had a really nice lunch. The restaurant was bustling with staff adjusting and arranging decorations for their 5pm Party. There was excitement in the air. :) I was excited to see hard shell tacos on the menu, and as we do with all new restaurants, we ordered a little bit of several things to taste - knowing the remainder will be dinner. I had the tacos, the shells were hard, but they weren't deep fried, and the ground beef was a little bland. I added salsa and they were better, but not great. I also ordered a combo with 3 items - a cheese enchilada (a little sweet?), and 2 shredded beef tamales. The tamales were the star of the show for me! I visited El Río Chico and had a great experience. The food was fresh, flavorful, and affordable. I ordered a fajita taco salad and really enjoyed it. The service was fast and friendly, and the restaurant had upbeat music that made the atmosphere lively. The place feels casual and welcoming. I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for good Mexican food in the area.

This place was not good at all everything that we got was mush! Chicken fajita salad was not at all like it list in the menu. All the sides were in a separate dish. The lettuce was mushy. The chicken was just small shreds. The chicken quesadilla was mushy and watery really inferior Mexican food would not recommend another thing. The bathrooms were the grossest bathrooms I’ve ever seen the toilet seats were all worn out with stains all over them and they were plastic cushions. They also do not answer the phone when trying to place a takeout order.

The first thing I have to say is that this restaurant is spotlessly clean. Large dining room, large bar, cordial and family atmosphere. The staff is friendly and they do a good job and the menu is very very extensive. I would like to point out that their food is not excessively salty, like in other Mexican restaurants we have been to, I like that, and of course the dishes are large. We ordered the fajita for two and it was too much, four people could eat perfectly…it was delicious. There is also a small terrace. We went on Sunday for dinner and we didn't have to wait, everything was correct and we were very satisfied. I definitely recommend it.
