Restaurant Matilda

We had an absolutely outstanding dinner at Restaurant Matilda. We started with drinks at the bar, where the bartenders were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, setting the tone for a fantastic night. From there, we moved to a cozy corner booth for what turned into a true feast. The room strikes that perfect balance between lively and energetic, yet still intimate and comfortable enough for a long, lingering dinner. After some incredible cocktails, we ordered an array of starters, with the chilled oysters and confit tuna belly crackers as standouts. Every bite was beautifully prepared. We also loved the mushrooms & lentils and the golden chicken, both deeply flavorful and satisfying. The service throughout the night was warm, attentive and seamless. Can’t recommend it enough!

Every time I’m back in the States! even if it’s just a flying visit I always make sure I stop at Matilda. It’s become one of those places that feels like a little ritual for me. No matter how quick the trip is, I can’t imagine being nearby and not going. Matilda has this beautiful, cosy-yet-modern atmosphere that makes you feel at home the moment you walk in. The owner has really created something special here warm, welcoming, and full of character, without ever feeling pretentious. It’s the kind of place where you instantly relax. The food is always exceptional. Some of their signature dishes are honestly unforgettable like the wood-grilled oysters with bone marrow (sounds unusual, tastes incredible) and their crispy little dauphine potatoes that I could happily eat a whole bowl of. Creative and delicious menu in a beautifully decorated interior makes this a dining experience you won't soon forget. The dishes are made to be shareable and you can't go wrong with anything you order. The taste is just amazing! The sourdough bread and butter is a great way to start your meal - warm and inviting. We had the dauphine potatoes as well as the lentil dish with chanterelles, and the huge garden salad in a light lemony almond vinaigrette. Our waitress Amanda told us their herbs are grown in the garden, and you could really taste the freshness of the ingredients. This spot for dining is fantastic! Accommodated my wife’s dairy allergy and checked every dish we requested. For dessert, they brought her a special scoop of vegan chocolate ice cream! Very kind, and the only place I’ve every seen make a house root beer with the real roots. Sassafras and sarsaparilla. Our waitress Grace was very kind.

Restaurant Mathilda is the best restaurant in the Catskills. The food is excellent and thoughtfully prepared. The service is perfect, and the waiting staff are warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The ambiance is calm and lovely, making it a place where you want to relax and take your time. It’s not just about the food, but about the whole experience. My favorite restaurant in the Catskills!!
