a wonderful, must-try gainesville gem! at the heart of this cafe-restaurant is fusion and cultural celebration. resident coffee roasters have good, aromatic coffee; their food dishes are delicious and exciting. the resi latte had a nice contrast between the coffee, the sweet panela, and the bright citrus. we also ordered a cold brew with some almond milk - that was great! the poblano butter and blue corn biscuits are a creative take on an american classic, and the poblano really shined through. the huarache was delicious and crispy, and the pickled onions and salsa macha balanced the egg and avocado. the chicken on the biscuits was nice and crispy, albeit a little plain. the brisket was incredibly tender - i would really recommend trying it! honestly, you can’t go wrong with anything on

Awesome spot. Beautiful interior (incredibly well designed) with a hip crowd and lovely staff. Went for both coffee and brunch. I can say that the espresso was pulled just about flawlessly (just enough bite to make me happy without killing the actual flavor of the coffee) and my wife was in love with her mocha. For brunch itself, the chorizo burrito satisfied both my hunger (without leaving my stomach feeling bloated or overly full) and my love of easy rhymes. My wife praised the break bowl, and I can attest to that praise with the few bites I tried. This place is an easy recommend, and I am excited to return.

Whatever the Michelin Star equivalent is for a cafe, Resident deserves it. We have loved their coffee and chai since we moved to Gainesville two years ago. At the cafe - pancakes, avocado toast, eggs and hash, croissants and anything else we have had are delicious. Family friendly and the service is excellent every time. Thank you specifically to Pedro, you went above and beyond to accommodate our young kids today. 🙏 We hope Resident stays around for many years to come.

Went here for a second time and loved it both times. Their coffee and drinks are some of the best on Gainesville. For food, I really love the unique uses of masa in their food. This time I around I had their “not toast” avo toast and I’d order it again. The poached egg was cooked to perfection. My partner had their chicken and biscuits, which paired surprisingly well with the eggs served. The biscuits and chicken were also yummy when dipped in the chili crisp of my dish. One way I think this play could be made better is to have a self-service station with alternative sweeteners, ketchup, hot sauce, straws, napkins, etc… I felt bothersome asking the staff for all my needs, but they were happy to be of service. I also wish that they had a table time limit for weekends in regards to students

I liked the vibe with Cuban? music and different coffee type offerings (horchata latte, chocolate type drink, etc). Breakfast was good. Seems that everyone is gravitating to $15 per entree! Two comments: on busy days like Saturday and Sunday, consider having two registers to take orders to help reduce lines of people; also my wife got regular coffee and asked for a warmup/tipoff mid-meal. The server said it would not be a free refill. Yes, it is a business, but regular coffee is an item that you can refill for free to help keep your customers happy. (I did not expect a no cost refill of my hot horchata). Small things like that can help customers decide if they will be back.
