We enjoyed our stay here. There was an issue with the room but it was taken care of promptly. The best part of our stay was meeting and talking with the family. Hanging out in the restaurant was awesome. Chef Renee hung out with us and made us breakfast which was excellent. The fried grits called acorn cakes are scrumptious. You really feel like family here.
After booking online was looking forward to the visit. The inn and restaurant are family owned and run. The inn is a historic house that needs some renovation. The rooms have Old window a/c units that didn’t get turned on till just before we got there and ran constantly .It was 90 degrees outside and probably 80 + in the room. Being an old building the number of ac outlets in the room is very limited. So trying to charge all the various devices took patience. The room we were in had a king bed that had a 2 step stool to get onto it on one side, challenging. The staff was very nice and friendly.
Just stayed 2 nights in Mariams room! Absolutely beautiful. The bed was so comfortable. Had breakfast both mornings downstairs at the Acorn Restaurant. Delicious. The owners make you feel like family! Loved my experience and will book again soon. I highly recommend this place.
I grew up in a big, old home like this. However, this building has not been kept up. Very dirty. Carpet in my room hadn't been swept/shampooed in forever. Photo on their site looks far better than reality. Deep cleaning and dusting would improve the look greatly. Electric cords do not even stay in the outlets to use your hair dryer which is a safety hazard. No heat the nights I stayed and it was cold. There is not sufficient driveway lighting or on the front entrance/steps at night. This is a safety situation. I needed to cut my trip short. I notified them by email that I had to leave and asked about potential refund for the days not used. I found no refund policy on their site, so I asked. Crickets and I emailed multiple times. The family was so nice when I arrived and afterwards, well, i
While we were not guests staying at the Inn, we did try the Iron Chef dining experience. So glad our friend shared this, it was a great way to try 9 different items (3 appetizers, 3 soups, 3 entrees) in a tapas style (small portion) presentation. It probably helped that 1 of the 2 secret ingredients were a fave of mine- cheese. Everything was delicious, so it was difficult to vote for a single chef! It took just under 3 hours to try them all, plus salad and dessert - these 2 are not part of the competition. While I look forward to returning, I do wish they could hang tapestries high on the wall to muffle the sound of conversation - our party of 8 had to yell across the table to be heard. Speaking of tables, the seating is a several long tables that hold about 20 ppl each, so it'll be an o
