Red Butte Ranch Private Lodging

Neat place! Ruth is a wonderful host. I was traveling from Salt Lake City to Minnesota and just looking for a place to stay near Casper. Red Butte Ranch was perfect! It was a bit cheaper than the hotel chains in Casper, and way more interesting. And the breakfast was really good.

Our host Ruth, originally a Kiwi, could not have been nicer or more accomodatoling during our 1 night stay in the Cottage on our way to Yellowstone National Park from Denver. She is also very direct and efficient. The large property is located directly on the on the North Platte River just outside Casper WY. The Cottage is homey, comfortable and very well equipped. Also very bright and clean! We hope to return for a longer stay to fish for trout on the North Platte and to use the transport service the Ranch can offer to anglers. The Shea Trout Hatchery just across the river is worth a visit--fascinating. Plenty of restos and stores within 5-10 minute drive. Took a wonderful hike across the road for beautiful scenic views. We had a great experience staying at Red Butte, Ruth was so friendly and accommodating and made us an amazing breakfast. The location was beautiful right on the river and the beds were super cozy. So nice to meet another kiwi abroad :)

This was a terrific experience and my only regret was that we only stayed one night. Ruth, our host, was funny, dynamic and incredibly knowledgeable. The cottage was clean, cheerful and well-equipped. Beds and sheets were luxury. And the scenery was gorgeous. Located on the banks of the river, we headed off on a hike up the rolling hills for mind-blowing views. A few minutes drive is fascinating trout hatchery where you can do a self-guided tour supplemented by eager guides willing to share their wisdom on trout breeding and fishing. Very cool, real cowboy vibe in Casper with an authentic store suppling wrangler fashion. Red Butte Ranch is a rare gem.

I had a fantastic, warm, and very hospitable experience! My dog and I were finishing a long drive through Casper- and the owner could not be more kind and welcoming. The property was beautiful, breakfast was exceptional- 5/5.
