Ramsey County Library - Maplewood

Just visited the newly reopened Maplewood Library, and it is amazing. The layout is wonderful, and the children's area, which is now tucked in the back, looks great. It allows for the kids to be loud without disrupting the rest of the patrons in the library. There are also desks with attached enclosed areas for little ones, should parents have to work on the computer.

The Maplewood library is freshly remodeled. Everything is tidy and clean. The children’s area is full of books and has a large space to play which is full of toys. A great place to nurture young imaginations. Another cool thing is the “library of things”. They have games, baking pans, and miscellaneous other things which you can borrow.

I am very irritated with the staff here. I reserved a study room for 6pm. I walked past the room noticing another client was deep into his meeting at 5:59 I asked the front desk to remind him he needs to wrap up. The women stated “it’s not six”. I was just asking to give him a reminder so he could pack within the next 5 minutes. She refused to help me. At 6:05 I tried to ask another staff member but the client still needed time to wrap up. I didn’t get into the study room until 6:15 pm and my meeting started at 6. Not only is the staff rude and unprofessional but honoring reservations times needs to be implemented.

Discovered this library and loved that the children’s area was tucked away in the back corner making it easier to keep an eye on our twin two year olds and four year old. The scarf toss, tent/house, market were a hit with our kids.

I am here for Family Story Time right now and the children's librarian conducting the story is AMAZING! She has wonderful "teacher" vibes, she keeps the kids entertained, and seems to really enjoy putting on the story time- I've been to other local libraries where the person leading the group seems less than thrilled to be there, but we will come back to this story time simply for her presence! Besides this, the children's play area is great, and the little child "nooks" they have next to computers for parents who need to get work done is GENIUS and I've never seen it anywhere else. I absolutely love this library!
