One of the most delicious broths I had ever had, I always end up drinking all of it. The broth has a rich thickness to it I have not found anywhere else. This place easily became my favorite ramen spot, I am going to miss not living as close it it anymore. 10/10 (additional parking along the back near the train tracks)
My wife and I were in the area for some last minute Christmas shopping, and we wanted to get something warm for the weather. I haven't had Ramen Dojo since approximately 2015(?) so it had been long overdue. I remember it being really good a decade ago. I ordered the garlic pork tonkotsu and my wife had the creamy corn. I also added a fried soft shell crab. Both of our broths were really rich and savory. We were initially skeptical about the corn broth, but it was interesting; it didn't have a strong corn taste but you could definitely tell it was there. My pork tonkatsu was pretty standard, not in a bad way but not in a way the stands out from any other ramen shop. My only complaints would be that the serving size is a little small, the standard toppings are a little skimp, and the broth
Used to be good, but not anymore. It’s cheap to force quail eggs on people for ramen and they’re not even remotely as tasty as regular soft boiled chicken eggs. I could tell that the ramen was hastily assembled as the boiled spinach was still cold even though the broth was piping hot. The noodles were too al dente for my taste and the broth mostly tasted bland and oily/peppery. Way, way better options in San Mateo, with much less of a wait and better service. Steer clear if you have had nostalgic feelings for Dojo; the charm is all gone.
One of the best ramen places in San Mateo! Flavorful soup, well-textured noodles, and well-cooked toppings. Soup is very similar to Ramen Parlor and Santa Ramen (all owned by the same owner). It used to be a lot more difficult to get a seat, but due to the explosion of dining options in San Mateo, it’s much easier to get a seat in the small, intimate venue. Plenty of street parking or in the lot behind the restaurant. Fast and friendly service.
After all these years, Ramen Dojo is still solid and one of the best amongst so many newer spots in downtown San Mateo. Our host was warm and attentive. The restaurant is small and very homey.
