Customer Reviews
They don't know how to make pupusas right- they're not the WORST on the east side, but save your money to go to the spot in Plaza Urbana. They used some kind of gooey cheese made for cheesy burritos or something, the chicharrón was way too salty, the fresh loroco was tasteless, and the masa had too much water. How do you still burn the cheese AND make a pupusa too wet??? For almost $4 a pupusa??? To be honest, the kareoke wasn't awful but I definitely wouldn't eat in if I hadn't planned to take my food home. It's like pupusas were an afterthought on their menu- take if off if that's the case and offer other stuff so it might not be mediocre.
I'm sorry I have to change my review, last time we were there was not very busy and we had a great experience but this time we came at karaoke time and it was awful, so loud we couldn't talk to each other (party of 4) and we have to point to the menu to place our order, the food is good but they made two mistakes, probably because of the noise situation, our waitress was not very attentive, we have to wait a lot for some salsa and the check, the parking was full and inside there were only guys drinking, so definitely not a family place. Don't think I will come back, while leaving we saw a couple (man & woman) getting in and a few seconds later going out, guess they were smarter than us.
Summary: If it sounds reasonable, go here and try the $3.00 Pupusas Chicharon con Queso (pork rinds with cheese.) 👍🏻 ___ This is a genuine Central American restaurant, so "English as a second language" problems are possible. I ordered a couple pork pupusas with cheese (pupusas chicharon con queso), as takeout. They tasted very good, and were filling for the $3.00 price each. The time to prepare and serve them was a bit long compared to fast food. In a second visit, I ordered tacos al-pastor. I thought my previous order of pupusas was much superior as a dish (also $0.50 cheaper.) Tacos might be faster to prepare (?)
I came in for a bite and was amazed by their taco. I ordered 2 asada. Unlike most tacos I have had the tortilla was hand made and not fried, while it is a preference and not the standard an authentic taco tortilla is normally hand made by my standards as fresh is always something I'm looking for.
This place offers good delicious Mexican and Central American food, the staff/waitresses here are very polite and welcoming, food prices are fair and I highly recommend this place for anyone trying to eat at a new place from the usual spot you go to.
