Pungo-Blackwater Library

To say the staff are super friendly would be an understatement! As soon as you find yourself passing these libraries doors you are greeted from the get go! The collection of novella is terrifically varied. There is a small but well maintained computer hub located here as well. If you find yourself in the Virginia Beach area, this curious little library is definitely worth a visit or two.

Helpful and kind staff, clean and bright, cute little young readers area with hand puppets, duplos, magnetiles, coloring papers and big crayons. There are also two mounted iPads with educational games and headphones which my daughter enjoyed. The labeling of their books is so nice and helpful too! Big section dividers. There was a story time room as well which looked nice and spacious and was divided from the little readers area with a door so my toddler couldn’t disturb the bigger kids which was helpful for me! This is a smaller library, so keep that in mind if needing a little more room to play. There’s a good mix of kids that could be in that small section, especially before an event.

Pungo-Blackwater is one of the best branch libraries in Hampton Roads and northeast NC. The librarians are so welcoming and always take time to chat with my young son - he loves our weekly trips to this location. The kids section is cozy and has a nice selection of books. There are a few toys but not so many that parents come from all over to let their children run around and scream - it's still a library (not a playground) and we love this. I have yet to find inappropriate material on the shelves or on display in the children's section. Parents very much appreciate this. Love to PB and thank you ♥️

Quaint and cozy library with a fun kids section, computers and meeting area.

This is a gem of a library, with a good selection of materials of special interest to people living a rural lifestyle, including great workshops and presentations. The staff have been outstanding.
