Puerto Vallarta Mexican Restaurant

Puerto Vallarta is not your typical Wichita Mexican restaurant. In a town where “authentic” often translates to a sombrero nailed to a wall and a basket of chips that tastes faintly of freezer burn, this place feels…different. Better, even. The owner moves around the room the way a hummingbird works a flower patch—quick, attentive, occasionally startling. He checks on every table as if he’s personally responsible for our emotional well-being, which, in my case that night, he absolutely was. The food? Good. Good enough that Abuelos, may it rest in peace, probably closed out of embarrassment. First time at this restaurant. Staff were very pleasent. Lots of patio seating available. Menu has numerous choices. Salsa and refried beans are complementarily served with tortilla chips. I had the Tequila Chicken, which was quite good. It was stuffed with cilantro rice, with a nice sauce with grilled peppers and onions. There are drink specials too. This was a Wednesday, so half priced drinks. I enjoyed a Margarita.

I cannot overstate how incredible this place is. I went there with my family while visiting from out of town and the food was divine. I am a big fan of spicy food and Puerto Vallarta did not disappoint! Furthermore, the food was divinely flavorful--I want to return to try everything on the menu. To top off the S tier food, the service was perfect. I recently renewed my driver's license and accidentally left my temporary paper ID on the table. It was accidentally bussed and thrown in the trash (through ZERO fault of the server, this was completely my own mistake). I called them shortly after realizing I had left it and one of the owners DUG THROUGH THE TRASH OUT BACK AND FOUND MY ID. If you haven’t tried this little locally owned Mexican Restaurant in West Wichita….you must RUN THERE NOW! A true authentic, and delicious place to visit with friends. I absolutely love their Smothered Burrito with Asada and a side of Mexican Rice. We enjoy the bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers, and the tacos! Omg the tacos. Oh and the Blackberry Margaritas are to die for. Really haven’t had anything I wouldn’t order again. Not to mention they have almost daily specials! Check them out, you won’t regret it💜

I went here for my birthday last night and was so impressed with the food and service. I got the Chile Verde which was so flavorful and had tons of meat in the serving. I can't believe I've lived in Wichita so long and just now finding about this amazing restaurant. We will definitely be back.
