Customer Reviews
Elevated comfort food? Heck yeah! We really tried to pace ourselves, but then we saw "My Mom's bread rolls" on the menu, and all sense went right out the window. And honestly, they were fantastic: oven hot and perfectly soft on the inside. We ended up having to take some of the ludicrously delicious pork belly rice home because we couldn't finish it, and didn't have room for dessert (which also looked incredible - next time?). We did finish the hand rolled crab pasta because not to do so would have been an abomination, and we can't disrespect crab like that. All in all, every dish we tried really hit the spot on a cold November evening. The restaurant space is cozy, perfectly tucked away in a quiet corner of Bernal Heights. Just like its sister restaurant - 3rd Cousin - it's a great spot
My wife and I went here recently with our 2 close friends to celebrate our friends getting a new job. We ordered the lobster hand roll with uni and caviar, the cod, the steak, the pork belly rice bowl and the Dubai chocolate sundae. Everything was good but none of the dishes were standout amazing to me. The restaurant had a good ambiance for a celebration with our friends. I didn't leave craving the dishes afterwards or wanting more of a certain dish.
Food was delicious. The baked oysters could’ve been warmer. Some were warm while others were slightly on the cold side. Otherwise, we loved the food and the ambiance.
Staff was very friendly and attentive— also, we were celebrating a birthday so there was a handwritten card on the table, which was very sweet! We had the brussels sprouts, parker house rolls, chicken katsu, and pork belly rice. The standouts were the brussels sprouts and rolls, the flavors of the fusion dishes did not really work for me. I’m asian though, and bizarrely when we were eating, one of the waiters (or chefs?) came over to ask if I needed chopsticks. My partner (non-asian) and the tables next to us (non-asian) were not asked this… Overall, we enjoyed the experience and would come back to try some of the classics as opposed to their fusion dishes!
Wonderful food and service. Happy I got to visit on the very first night, will definitely be back again. The gelato with Dubai chocolate dessert was amazing, hope it’ll stay for the long term!
