Portillo's & Barnelli's Crystal Lake

Food was great! However, the vodka sauce on the pasta is almost always not enough. The noodles are usually dry and when mixing together it’s very minimal. Please add more sauce to pasta! Thank you.

The guy that took our order was very nice. However, getting to the 2nd window the lady was super rude. She shoved the food out the window at us and then just shut the window. The food was pretty the size of the jumbo dogs seems to have gotten smaller. The cake shake was good, and cheese fries were good. Usually I like to come here often when in town. However, I feel with the experience we had one time is good for this trip.

Celebrated our son’s birthday at Portillo’s in Crystal Lake. The manger came over and asked if he could give the birthday boy a gift. He took our son to select an item. Our son loves to share and asked if he can pick something to share with his whole family. The manger said of course and they came back with an entire chocolate cake! Thank Portillo’s for making it a birthday to remember!

I ordered the big beef Sandwich and not only did it lack meat, the bread size has shrunk about 2 in. It is now equivalent to what the sze of a regular sandwich use to be. The hedgefund that bought Portillo's spent about a billion dollars. However, that doesn't mean that they should be cutting back all the food sizes and raising the prices at the same time. I was very disappointed. I've had bigger beef sandwiches at several other places for the same price. Also, no one bothered to check the order to make sure the piece of cake I ordered was given with the order. It's too bad the family didn't take over the business because none of this would be happening.

In my experience, they try to rush the orders. My fries were quite salty and hard, but overall, not much flavor. The hot dog was okay, just like any other hot dog place. The chocolate cake is just a simple chocolate cake with not much flavor. Those who've tried homemade cakes from scratch or from a good bakery will understand, but if you've only tried supermarket ones, theirs will be "super good" for you.
