Poppy Cake Baking Company - Sierra Madre Location

The food here is decent at best and I’ve visited less and less over the years. If you’re in a bind, it’s an ok choice. The bread do the sandwiches don’t always taste fresh (yes, people can tell when bread is stale). The lettuce in the sandwich I got today was gross (see picture). When a restaurant cares about quality, it’s apparent. They’ll make sure every ingredient in a sandwich is up to par. The turkey here is also flavorless and dry. Croissant is pretty decent. Fried chicken is decent too but totally overpriced.

Ownership has changed hands. My Apple Bear Claw has 0 apple and 0 apple flavour. 10.50 for this and a coffee. By 9A, not many pastry or bread options available. The line was too long to stand to request for a refund.

I wrote a review maybe last week, but I want to update it. I have always liked PoppyCake and have been a customer since they opened. I don’t go as often as I’d like, especially now that I have a baby and I’m a stay at home mom. While some of the new employees are getting used to juggling everything it takes to work at a food counter, the staff that has been working there for a while and the people that have possibly more experience are very helpful. I’ve been happy with their food, their coffee, and their pastries. I usually take my baby in a carrier because I have to carry multiple items, and today one of the staff members helped me take my coffees to my car. I’m glad I am revising my review as PoppyCake is one of, or possible even the best small businesses in town. Pictured below are som

Poppy Cake is a nice little bakery and cafe shop in Sierra Madre. They have all kinds of pastries, sandwiches and breads as well as cold/hot drinks. It’s the only bakery in the old town city of SM. I came to grab an afternoon hot tea, perfect for a cool lazy Sunday Fall weather. I was greeted by an elderly staff and I asked for Herbal tea but they ran out. Thus, I settled for a hot fresh 12 oz Moroccan mint green tea which is rich in antioxidant and a stress reliever. It was bloody perfect to my liking. Atmosphere was good. Interior was spacious enough to occupy a dozen customers. Prices seem fair. Street Parking is plentiful. Staff and service were kind, professional and spot on, respectively. Overall, I had a good order experience.

We had a wonderful cozy experience headlined with a delicious Turkey Cranberry Sandwich. My partner had a Chicken pesto which was scrumptious. The new owners are very courteous and took extra time to ensure we had everything we needed, even giving us a complimentary Cinnamon roll. The environment and location is as sweet of a neighborhood experience you can find in the LA area.
