Platte Beach

Beautiful slow moving tube or kayak river. Shallow in most parts, gets deep and mucky in some places. Depending where u drop in rides can be 1 1/2 and up. Extremely busy on peak weekends and holidays, the river can be a bit crowded. Opens up to Lake MI and beautiful views at the end. In the past, there have been a LOT of geese and poop on the shoreline leading up to Lake Mi. Free grills in this location for picnics. Need a state park pass to park here or Plan to pay $5 if u want to park in the parking lot on the platte side and CASH ONLY.

- this is a nice area to swim but the water is extremely cold especially the further you go down and the sand has so many rocks in it, walking on it hurts if you're not used to it. - have to pay for parking but when I went you didn't have to pay that day. - people that come here seem pretty friendly. - depending on when you go like all places it can get pretty busy. - have a bathroom in the parking area. - only thing I honestly hated were the flies. So many of them and I kept getting bit and couldn't enjoy my food I had brought either. - overall a cool spot to visit, chill, and enjoy the day.

This is one of my favorite spots. If you are looking for a good Aurora spot, this is a good one. Simple walk down the beach gets you away from headlights. Parking lot is lit and there is a bathroom open at this area.

We came on a Sunday and stayed from 2-5pm. The beach is gorgeous and clean. We came with a dog and had tons of fun. The parking is right there and there are restrooms. It wasn’t too crowded and no bugs to complain about :)

10 stars. What more could you want? Bring tubes and beach gear. Set up your beach spot and then walk your tube up the river and enjoy floating down to Lake Michigan back to your cooler and chairs. Miles of pristine beach to walk with nary a house in sight. Incredible sweeping views of Sleeping Bear and Empire. Convenient parking and pleasant restrooms.
