Plains Trading Post Restaurant

Decent stop in Douglas, with good service The Plains Trading Post Restaurant has a friendly atmosphere and a nice local feel. The food was okay — nothing bad, but nothing that really stood out either. The service was good and the staff were friendly and attentive. It’s worth noting that it’s still a smoking restaurant, with only the main dining room being non-smoking, which might not appeal to everyone. Overall, a decent stop if you’re passing through, but there’s room for improvement.

This is a historic adventure. If you like interesting construction, this is worth a visit. It was built out of remnants from area buildings and is literally a museum. It is cozy, with a smoking/non smoking section. The ice cream parlor is fun and operational. Unfortunately due to vandalism, the upstairs museum is closed. The Lounge/dance hall opens at 4.

I enjoy stopping in The Plains Trading post. I had dinner here the other day, the NY strip steak was good, especially for the price. The service was a little rough, younger server learning the ropes. The back area is non smoking. The building is cool and has quite a bit of history.

Took my son there for his birthday yesterday and the older waitress was rude. Handed us used butter from another table and got snippy when we asked for an extra plate. “My hands aren’t that big to carry everything”. Worst experience I have had. Food gets worse each time and this will be my last time. The steak I once loved from here was over cooked and tasted like pot roast. Definitely don’t recommend, McDonalds is better than this place.

BEST Chicken Fried Steak I've ever eaten! This place is open 24 hours which made it great for getting into town late. Leaving out the next morning we got a GREAT breakfast as well.
