I was doing some work here today and had a lovely experience. The honey oat milk latte was delicious; not too sweet. The spinach feta pastry was absolutely divine. More importantly, the staff were super nice and friendly. While I was heads down working, they gave me beignets on the house. Those were some of the best I’ve had- flaky texture and just the right amount of sweetness. One time, an elderly customer stood up looking for napkins. The staff immediately noticed and pointed to where the napkins were. All in all, the food AND the people there are great. This is now one of my favorite places in Newark!
best part of our NJ trip! good coffee, good food! king cake is the way to go! our barista brewed it up just for me and went above and beyond! service was 110% the highlight of this place. will be back, and going to different locations!! (i don’t know how to add a photo but i also got a chocolate muffin and it was amazing!)
Finally, a place that knows what a cappuccino is! After wasting over $15 trying to get a proper cappuccino somewhere else—where I literally had to explain to the staff how to make one—I found PJ’s Coffee, and it was a breath of fresh air. No explanations, no drama. I ordered a cappuccino, and I got a real cappuccino: well-pulled espresso, milk at the right temperature, and a proper creamy foam on top. Just like it should be. Places like Pão Da Terra should take notes. A cappuccino isn’t just hot milk with weird foam. Want to know what a real one looks like? I can send you a photo of this one. Props to PJ’s Coffee for doing the basics right: quality, skill, and great service.
The place is very beautiful inside, the workers were amazing. However my food was burnt , I was already on my way to work so I couldn’t go back to ask them to make me a different one. The beignets were delicious, I wasn’t a fan of the coffee. If I do return I’ll only order the beignets.
So glad to have a new, refreshing and different coffee shop in downtown Newark. 🙌 Awesome customer service, cheerful team of baristas and such an exciting menu. Definitely recommend the skinny vanilla latte, chocolate chunk cookie and frozen hot chocolate. ☕ 👌
